Low Co2 Emission Cars - Save Money And The Planet!It stands for Carbon Dioxide and is generally thought to be a major factor in the so called 'greenhouse gases' warming effect on the world's climate. This warming is thought to cause rising global temperatures by trapping the suns heat. This leads to melting ice caps and rising sea levels which in turn leads to 'unnatural' weather conditions. Where Does It Come From? Well we ourselves produce Co2 when breathing but it's a particular type of Co2 that's causing the problem. It's a type that was produced and absorbed by plants millions of years ago. The decomposed plants were then heavily compressed over time to produce fossil fuels such as oil and coal. How Does It Get Into The Atmosphere? Unfortunately when we burn fossil fuels such as coal and oil through power stations or car engines we release the Co2 out into the atmosphere. What's The Solution? No one really knows yet, so all we can do meantime is try to reduce the amount of Co2 being produced so as to allow the Earth time to recover it's balance and deal with the problem in a natural way. How Can I Help? Cutting back on any electricity or gas at home of course but also switching to - and sticking with - a lower Co2 producing car will provide long term benefits. Some argue that producing a new car produces more Co2 than maintaining an old high Co2 car but of course they miss the point that every new low Co2 car produced gradually lowers the overall balance so that in several years time the overall Co2 produced by cars will be much less than now.
